What is Orthopedic Physiotherapy?

Orthopedic Physiotherapy (also called musculoskeletal physiotherapy) is a specialty within physiotherapy that focuses on the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and conditions affecting the bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. 

It's one of the most common branches of physiotherapy and applies to people of all ages - not just athletes. 

 

What do Orthopedic Physiotherapists treat?

  • Joint injuries: sprains, dislocations, arthritis
  • Muscled injuries: strains, tears, weakness
  • Bone injuries: fractures, post-fracture stiffness

  • Spinal conditions: low back pain, neck pain, sciatica
  • Tendon problems: Achilles tendinopathy, tennis elbow
  • Chronic pain conditions
